Now in its 62nd year, the city’s annual Corn Roast returns from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, along College Way and 21st Avenue — where you’ll find fire-roasted corn, local vendors, live entertainment and community organizations together for an afternoon downtown.

Hosted by the Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce, the free festival dates back to 1964, when it was created to welcome new educators to the community and celebrate the beginning of fall.

That celebration still revolves around its namesake crop. This year’s corn will come from Duyck Farms in Cornelius, with local firefighters roasting the ears over an open wood fire during the festival.

Roasted corn will be sold for $3 per ear or two for $5, while raw corn will be available at three ears for $1. Elote will also be available for $5.

Dozens of vendors will also set up throughout the festival, offering food, artwork and other goods alongside booths from local businesses and community organizations.
