Ongoing clashes began on 6 May 2021 between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police over a planned decision of the Supreme Court of Israel regarding evictions of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, a neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The violence coincided with the holidays of Laylat al-Qadr and Jerusalem Day. This current crisis is just another occurrence in this long running conflict since 1945.
